Some experimenting with graphite, colored pencil and WD40. There is also some permanent marker off to the side.

Canceled
There were about ten prints from the edition that did not make the cut. Those were relegated to this series . . . The bright orange works well . .

Excluded
This beautiful map and 49 others got four colors screen printed on them today between 6;30am and 3:00pm. I also managed to teach three classes and chat with my advanced print making students during our studio time . . . While printing.
All four screens burned by 8 am and off to critique with the advanced layout and design class . . .
Got the third and fourth done between 2 and 3 . . . It was right down to the wire. As I was cleaning my screen, the alarm on my phone that reminds me to pick up Ethan went off . . .

Aware of consequence . . .
A small edition with a band of spray paint and text over the isolated print. The type reads "aware of consequence" and there is a second set in white that says "familiar with pain" . . .

. . . Isolation . . .
It was a long day of burning screens, printing between classes, washing out emulsion and burning more screens . . . Using two screens, I printed a four color print between 6am and 3pm . . . Not to mention teaching three classes. It is an edition of 25.

Sketchbook
This spread is the result of a seventy-five minute conversation with my advanced graphic studio (seniors) class. The content of the drawing has nothing to do with our conversation on 'graphic designer as author' . . . The coolest part of that discussion was that my studio mentor from grad school was quoted in the reading.
Video installation installed
Installation set up and running, just had the chords to arrange after this photo. I will try to get back to get more images, the proportions of the video turned out slightly different than I had expected, but I think the effect is similar to my vision.

Video Installation . . . Memory
Here are the three 1x8 foot panels onto which the video will be projected. The footage is found/appropriated home movies from the 1960s. It has a vertical and horizontal reflection in the vein of Wolfram's crosses. Over that footage there is animated letter forms and glitch graphics . . . I will take some shots of the actual installation after it is up and running.

Pigs ready for the fair
These four will be hanging in the Marxhausen gallery in a week along with some prints and a video installation . . . And other faculty work as well.

Hand painted beer sign
I don't know if I have ever shown you this. My father-in-law gave this to me after having it stored in his basement for years. The other side of the sign is slightly different since each was painted by hand. We researched the company a few years ago and if I remember correctly this was a brewery in Chicago a few decades back. The sign came from a bar in eastern Iowa that burned down . . . The sign is a little over four feet tall.

Boggs studio
Here's a shot from a couple days ago. Although it is not obvious here, I got the drywall mudded and painted this summer. I am still using the space where the bathroom will go as storage, but . . . it does feel good to have the walls and ceilings 'finished'

Making a mess less . . .
That panel from a few weeks back has been in this state for the past eight days, so it may be finished. In looking back at the images of this work in progress there are two or three spots that may have been a better resolve than this, but . . . this is what it is.

speak
This has taken on a few iterations since this photo, but I thought this might give evidence of the evolution as it slowly happens.
