This is really the first 'drawing' I have done outside of the sketchbook that seems to capture the mark making and the visual quality that I have developed . . . It seems that things may be going somewhere. 18x24
Just a shot of the studio as a working space, it seems to be working. The drywall dust on the floor helps cool down the warmth of the wood a bit.
This is great to see! It really appears as though you are starting to gain some momentum. The duck drawing certainly feels as though it could have been lifted from one of your sketch books and I like how each element, drawn, stenciled and surface all have their "moment" in the compostion. No one over shadowing the next.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it drawn on? Is the shot of the piece of the floor tar paper?
Got back from FL last night, once Caleb goes gotes to take a nap this afternoon I hope to at least spend some time in my studio looking.
Your post really got me motivated to get back at it!
One more question: what is the duck drawn with?
ReplyDeleteThe paper is just some random stone-henge or something. I found it in the art building one weekend and thought it was a 'learning moment' for whoever left it in the photo room. . . It wasn't tacked up or anything or I wouldn't have taken it . . . . just laying on the counter.
ReplyDeleteIt is drawn with a permanent marker. The paint was still wet and it clogged the marker a bit, which made the line quality all the more interesting.
The piece on the floor is tar paper . . .
