Week: 2/22–2/28

Painting:

Show Preparation:

Test hanging a painting in the garage.

Bolting panels together, building extra mount for cleat.

New table saw, (in background) - its already been put to good use getting these paintings ready for the April show at Art St. Louis. New panels have been getting built periodically, they are stacked along the wall on the left side of the photo. I am using birch plywood for these vs. the aspen. The birch seems to warp more than the aspen so I think once I get all of the reaming birch panels built I will revert back to the aspen.

Week: 2/8–2/14

Slow week due to everything else getting in the way of painting. Sometimes it happens, but I feel like this semester has gotten off to a very slow start. Part of the slow down is due to the fact that I am assembling a new table saw for the studio, 250 lb+ Craftsman on casters. The fence rails have to be aligned and paralleled to the table with has to be leveled to itself. Everything is about 1/16 of an inch off and I keep wrestling with it. Hopefully soon.

Week: 2/1–2/7

180 degree view of the studio taken this past Saturday.
The panel rooms within the studio were taken down for now.

It had been over two months since this piece had been touched.

Starting something new on the last of the untouched panels.
That means new panel fabrication is in the works. Not a ton of new panels, going to try and sporadically build a few here and there rather than taking several weeks to a month off from painting to construct a large number of them.

Experimenting with the idea of doing a plexiglass panel. Maybe on it's own or maybe on top of the wood panels.

Late January

Rooms within a studio expansion and work.

Further marks on the cube. Trying to play with the geometric possibilities of line—when I don't know what else to paint lines are always an option.

Started a shoe sketch in one of the rooms and wanted to try it out on a few panels.
